satellite groups
The WNC Satellite groups are a great way to meet people in a smaller, more casual setting. By actively participating, wonderful friendships are made. Have fun, meet people who share your interests, develop new interests, and get the most out of your WNC membership!
Art & Craft Makers participate in many different types of activities. They may learn to create a new project, watch demonstrations or visit artistic venues.
This group meets at various local establishments to enjoy happy hour, appetizers and fun conversation.
Enjoy relaxing, getting acquainted, walking, etc. Meetings rotate among area beaches. Colorful flags signify WNC's location. Bring your own chair, blanket, snacks, drinks, etc.
Join Biking for Fun and Fitness as we explore Wilmington’s trails and neighborhoods, rides usually average 10-14 miles. No one will be left behind! Members take tours organizing and leading rides. Riders should be able to transport their bikes to various starting points around town. Lunch, good company, and good conversation is our reward to ourselves after our ride.
Readers come together once a month and talk about specific books and the reading experience. Our books (fiction and non-fiction) are selected by members. You're welcome to come even if you haven't read the current book!
If you like to bowl or just love to have fun, this group is for you! You don't have to be a good bowler - most of us are not. The cost is $3 a game including bowling shoes.
If you have never played before, it is very easy to learn! Members take turns hosting. Hosts provide ice, water, ice-tea. Players bring $5 and a snack to share
We get together for coffee, tea, tasty treats and always much talking. Get to know your fellow Newcomers in a relaxed setting. Members rotate hosting in their homes.
Want to learn what our area has to offer? Join us as we visit various tourist attractions, historic sites, museums and other fun locations. Members receive monthly emails about upcoming events and details. Meeting times vary based on the activity.
Come to Dinner Out with your spouse, special guest, or yourself. We try a new restaurant in the area each time. Limited to 10 couples. Meets every other month.
This group hosts events related to home decor, entertaining, gardening and plants. We may do an interior decorating demo one month and visit a garden the next. Some of our events will have a cost associated with participating.
Experience various cuisines at locally owned restaurants. The cuisine changes each month as well as the location from Carolina Beach to Porter's Neck.
Never played? Always wanted to learn? Join us for a rummy-like game played with tiles instead of cards. We meet for lunch and then an afternoon of friendly rounds of play.
Looking to try new food ideas and exchange recipes? We take turns hosting a themed lunch each month and share the recipes we prepare. It's good food and great conversation!
We get together on a monthly basis to watch a movie at various theater locations in Wilmington. Days and times are variable depending on what is available. We usually rotate among The Pointe, Mayfaire and Cinematique at Thalian Hall.
Join us to work on your own individual hand projects, such as crocheting, knitting, needlepoint, or the likes. We rotate meetups at member’s homes while we work on our projects and socialize. The host sets the limit for guests in her home.
Come sip and swirl with us as we explore tasting the notes that fabulous wines offer! Members taste and discuss selected wines in a small group. We also serve small bites to complement the featured wines. This group meets once a month in a member's home. The hostess selects 2-3 wines to be featured. A fee applies.
Members and their spouse (or a guest) meet in a member's home for good company and conversation. The hostess sets the maximum number of guests she is able to accommodate. Everyone brings their own adult beverage, and an appetizer or dessert to share. Space is limited for this popular event so respond quickly! It is first come, first serve.
Join us as we explore Wilmington by walking trails in state and county parks, the beaches, Riverwalk and other locations such as Airlie Gardens and Oakdale Cemetery. We will meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 9:30 a.m. Walkers of all fitness levels are welcome to join. Your dogs are welcome too!
